Bayfield County Recognizes World Elder Abuse Day: June 15
Elder abuse is real and is the infliction of physical, emotional, or psychological harm on an older adult. Elder abuse also can take the form of financial exploitation or intentional or unintentional neglect of an older adult by the caregiver. Lastly, self-neglect, the most commonly report form of abuse in our area, means an individual can be in significant danger due to their inability to obtain adequate care, including food, shelter, clothing, or medical or dental care. Like other forms of abuse, elder abuse is a complex problem, and it is easy for people to have misconceptions about it.
