Bayfield County is home to six nationally designated areas - more than any other place in the state of Wisconsin. These areas have been preserved for the enjoyment of all because of the incredible natural history and ecological diversity that is unique and special:

- Iron River National Fish Hatchery
- North Country Trail
- St. Croix National Scenic Riverway
- Whittlesey Creek National Wildlife Refuge
