All month long, the Cultural Center will celebrate the birch tree with a number of unique activities exploring the art and science of birch. All activities are FREE and take place at the Washburn Cultural Center, except for the field trip on June 21. Kids Classes: Quick ssession: Ages 5-12 Kids get to experience the hot glass, use of tools and equipment and make something of their choice. Choose between a heart, paperweight, or paperweight fish. Approx: 1/2 hr long. $25 each

For many, the northern regions of Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan and Ontario are defined by water: creeks, rivers and lakes. Professor Brew will introduce a number of authors who have written about the Lake Superior watershed and share some favorite passages from their essays, stories and poems, encouraging participants to begin their own journey of literary exploration on the waters of Lake Superior.
