  3. Celebrate Birch! Celebrating the Art and Science of the Birch tree

    All month long, the Cultural Center will celebrate the birch tree with a number of unique activities exploring the art and science of birch. All activities are FREE and take place at the Washburn Cultural Center, except for the field trip on June 21.     Adult Classes are approximately 2 + hours in length. Long pants (No SHORTS will be allowed) Closed-tipped shoes (i.e. tennis shoes) Wear a Hat or headband Long-sleeved cotton shirt Optional– no billowy sleeves Wear sunglasses Kids Classes: Quick ssession: Ages 5-12 Kids get to experience the hot glass, use of tools and equipment and make something of their choice. Choose between a heart, paperweight, or paperweight fish. Approx: 1/2 hr long. $25 each

  6. Stubborn Mule Adventure Race

    This race is part of the Wisconsin Adventure Racing Series, Wisconsin’s premier race series featuring ten different adventure races and cash prizes totaling over $2,000. There is no fee to join the series, simply race any of the ten events and you’ll be automatically signed up. The more races your team competes in, the better chance you’ll have of taking home prizes. Compete in either the coed or open division in teams of 2, 3, or 4, and see how your team ranks against others in the Midwest!

    Join the Superior-St. Croix-Brule hikers and meet at Fuller's Family Restaurant in South Superior at 9:00 a.m. or Pattison State Park at 9:45 a.m. Hike distance will be 4-5 miles. Enjoy beautiful views of the Black River and good conversation with fellow hikers. Your hike leader is Teresa Nelson, a member of the Brule-St. Croix Chapter of the North Country Scenic Trail. The focus of the Port Wing Saturday Market is fresh, locally grown produce, plants and flowers. Our local farmers grow a wide variety of your favorite veggies and fruits. They also sell maple syrup, jams, jellies, farm fresh eggs & meats. Not only do we have fresh local produce, we offer local artists the opportunity to showcase their art: handmade books, stone and beaded jewelry, wood-carved and wood-turned spoons and other utensils, pottery, soaps and lotions, knitted hats & mittens, handwoven rag-rugs, bird paintings on wood and funny signs, just right for your cabin or guesthouse.
