    Adult Classes are approximately 2 + hours in length. Long pants (No SHORTS will be allowed) Closed-tipped shoes (i.e. tennis shoes) Wear a Hat or headband Long-sleeved cotton shirt Optional– no billowy sleeves Wear sunglasses Kids Classes: Quick ssession: Ages 5-12 Kids get to experience the hot glass, use of tools and equipment and make something of their choice. Choose between a heart, paperweight, or paperweight fish. Approx: 1/2 hr long. $25 each

  3. Bayfield Race Week

    July 1, 2019 - July 5, 2019

    Bayfield Race Week is the centerpiece of the AIS season: a week long festival of sailing on the South Shore of Lake Superior. The event surrounds the 4th of July, and attracts boats and crews all points of the compass, including: Canada, Florida, Duluth, and the Twin Cities. Race week itself kicks-off on Sunday evening with registration. Racing starts at 1100 each day, with multiple fleets. Depending on conditions, up to three races may be run in a day. Post race entertainment starts with the social at the Pavilion each night, with prizes, and continues on throughout the week. Bayfield in the mid summer is a lively place with many unique dining and live music options.

  4. Wednesday Evening Lecture Series- Prohibition: The Noble Experiment Comes to the Northland: 1920-1933

    July 3, 2019, All Day @ Madeline Island Museum

    Bob Mackreth, Apostle Islands Historian The Eighteenth Amendment to the Constitution effectively outlawed alcohol in the U.S. What factors made such an idea seem plausible, and how did the law play out in northern Wisconsin? Local historian Bob Mackreth will share stories of passionate moral crusaders and crafty smugglers in a look at an experiment that did not work out as planned. Bob Mackreth retired in 2005 as Park Historian at Apostle Islands National Lakeshore after a 27-year National Park Service career. After assignments at Sequoia National Park, Cape Cod National Seashore, Fire Island National Seashore, Harpers Ferry National Historic Park, and Cuyahoga National Park, he gladly sunk roots in northern Wisconsin. He writes frequently on regional history and serves as advisor to the Apostle Islands Historic Preservation Conservancy.

  5. P-4: Peddle, Paddle, Plod & Plunge

    The 16th Annual Madeline Island P4 will be Wednesday, July 3rd 2019! Registration is Limited to 80 participants, Register Soon! For those who are not familiar with this event: The P4 is a fun event that can be done individually or as a team. Starting at Joni’s Beach the first “P” is an 11-mile pedal. The second “P” is a 4-mile paddle. The third “P” is a 4-mile plod and the final “P” is a plunge into Lake Superior for individuals, or a 250-yard swim for teams. Register at:
